But we added it because the ongoing debate between the pro-life movement and abolition has highlighted the fundamental injustice of what pro-lifers are trying to do, such that this is now a central issue of debate between us. It was once believed that we had the same legislative goal, to criminalize abortion as homicide, but differed in our beliefs about what methods would practically and ethically bring it to pass. But the pro-life leaders and legislators have shown time and again that they don’t even believe in criminalizing abortion itself, by opposing legislation that criminalizes it as homicide.

Work in the pro-life movement is often separated into those who offer assistance to women in need, and those who agitate for public change. Abolitionism holds that Christians are required to participate in both kinds of activity, speaking the truth in love. Uniting these two modes in every abolitionist prevents love from devolving into a false, untruthful form, and truth from being delivered in a cold and arrogant way.
